Workshop: Spilling the Beans: his-story, her-story, your-story?
Every family has its stories, and most have somebody who wants to tell them. Is that person you? This practical, interactive workshop explores the pleasures and pitfalls of using your own family history in fiction, including the choices you must make and the responsibilities you bear. We’ll also examine and practise writing techniques from structuring to beating writer’s block. Bring pen, paper and beans to spill.
Katharine Grant (also K.M.Grant) has written regularly for most newspapers in Scotland, was the Royal Literary Fund Writing Fellow at the University of Glasgow and is on the panel of judges for the Walter Scott Prize for Historical Fiction.
