Kilmarnock’s Alexis Fleming was bedridden with a chronic illness but her beloved dog, Maggie, kept her going, especially when doctors gave her just six weeks to live. She fought back to life with her dog beside her. Later, devastated by the death of Maggie on a vet's operating table without her by her side, Alexis decided to start an animal hospice in her name, hoping she could ensure other animals nearing the end of life would not have to die alone - and the Maggie Fleming Animal Hospice was launched.

What follows is made more extraordinary as Alexis herself continues to fight against the devastating effects of Crohn’s Disease, digging deep into herself to find the resilience needed to concentrate on the animals when she is so unwell.

Heart-warming and heart-breaking in equal measure, No Life too Small is the story of the world’s first animal hospice, where all manner of terminally ill and abandoned animals can live out their last days surrounded by comfort and love.
